Regime Ready For Beautiful Wedding Skin.

A question I get asked a lot as a Make Up Artist is advice on a good skin regime particularly on the lead up to your wedding, you obviously want to be looking your absolute best and the condition of your skin is very important when it comes to looking good - It is your blank canvas, your starting base. The real key to a good skin regime is to start it as early as possible - a year in advance before your wedding date is the best idea, you don’t want to go changing things just prior as using new products may initially cause outbreaks or changes to your skin you aren’t prepared for to make sure you have beautiful wedding skin.
One real important thing to remember regardless of your skin type, oily, dry, combo, normal - all skin looks better after a good night’s sleep and all skin craves water!  Always ensure you drink plenty of water always but especially on the lead up to the wedding to maintain hydrated healthy skin.  Snacking on water based superfoods is another great way to stay hydrated too, such as Watermelon, Grapefruit, Broccoli and Lettuce.

Having hydrated skin will not only make it look naturally dewy and radiant but it will help your MU to stay put without it drying out.  Remember your skin absorbs a lot of what we put on it so it is only natural for it to absorb your MU too if it is too dried out.

If you are looking to bring a dull complexion back to life chose a good exfoliator to get rid of the build up of dead skin cells, clear blackheads and improve circulation, revealing and promoting the growth of fresh new skin sells to bring out your natural radiance.  Do be careful as a big mistake people make is over using an exfoliator, you don’t want to over clean the face as this will cause it produce more oils to counteract your cleaning.  Once a week is sufficient.

You also want to be exfoliating your luscious lips so that they are smooth and soft for that all important kiss at the end of the ceremony, you can buy great lip exfoliators such as Fabulous from Bliss or simply use warm water and a wet toothbrush, brushing lips gently back and forth.  Use a good lip balm containing Vitamin E and an SPF - this is very important as the sun can be really drying causing cracking.  The more moisturised your lips are the better your lip colour will sit and stay on your big day too.

The same goes for your face - always use a moisturiser to suit your skin type and one that contains a SPF to protect you from gaining sunspots in everyday exposure to the sunlight.  You can find foundations containing SPF too.  Applying make up to the skin shouldn’t bring you out in any pimples, if you find this does happen then you are more than likely using the wrong make up for your skin type - always look for foundation to suit just as you would a moisturiser.  It is also so important that you wash your brushes on a regular basis - every time you use a dirty brush you are adding a layer of acne-causing bacteria to your skin!  All you need is a shampoo to rinse them and then leave them to air dry - you will find make up application will be better too.

Following the above simple steps will help give you the best base for make up application for your big day to leave you looking flawless and glowing with beautiful wedding skin!
