The secret to good bridal skin is all in the preparation. Eat and drink well in the weeks leading up to your wedding, and condition your complexion with a regular skincare regime tailored to your needs, whether you have dry, oily or combination skin.

Try Pixi Glow Tonic from Cult Beauty (featured in our July Lust List!) to brighten, tone and condition your skin after cleansing.

For Gemma, the keyword for a natural, beautiful bridal skin is, ‘glow'. Not shine, but a beautiful healthy ‘glow from within’ feel.

“My favourite way to achieve this is by using a cream highlighter like the cult classic Nars 'all purpose' stick in Copacabana (before I apply the foundation) on the cheekbones, cupids bow and highs of the brow,” said Gemma. “If you have very dry or dehydrated looking skin, I mix a little bit of MAC’s Strobe Cream into foundation. I could not live without my MAC Strobe Cream! It allows me to add shine and subtle highlight to the face that brightens and adds the perfect, natural magic touch.”

If your skin is oily, Gemma can take away any unwanted shine using a loose translucent finishing powder, such as NAR Loose Light Reflecting Powder - great for photos, too! For the cheeks, a bronzer like Liz Earle’s Radiant Glow Bronzer is so beautiful simply swept over the cheeks and highs of the forehead to bring back some definition into the face.

Eyes and lips

A soft smokey eye can make the absolute best of your eye colour. Gemma is a massive fan of the Tom Ford eyeshadow palettes, including the Disco Dust quad. It includes a champagne and soft aubergine hues, as well as a slightly darker shade to add definition.

If your eyes are the main feature, lips will be kept simple. The Pro Team at Gemma Sutton absolutely LOVE Charlotte Tilbury’s K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in The Duchess. It’s creamy, buildable and most importantly, long lasting!

When it comes to finding the perfect natural bridal makeup, it’s important not to stray too far your usual look – you want to look and feel like yourself on your wedding day!
