Cihan’s big day by GS dream team Miss Serenity.

I love being part of a bride’s special day and it was an absolute privilege for me to be able to create Cihan’s Hair and Make-up for her dream wedding.

This was my first wedding in 2017 and wow, what an amazing wedding to start the year with! Great Gatsby meets Downton Abbey is how I would describe the feel of Cihan and Patrick’s wedding.  Classic but with a hint of glamour was the style for Cihan’s 1920’s inspired hair and make-up. Before even meeting Cihan, she sent me photos of her everyday style so I could really build a picture in my mind of exactly what she wanted.  I was excited to meet Cihan at her trial and we talked through her hair and make-up ideas. Her vision was a classic, elegant 1920’s look as this is an era Cihan loves.

Cihan and Patrick chose the stunning Eastnor Castle, set in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, as their venue. This was the perfect choice for their classic vintage inspired wedding.

Cihan loves the 1920’s hair styles with their neat finger waves and pin curls. After looking through some images Cihan liked, I created a 20’s inspired hair style that I knew would compliment her beautiful dress. To prep her hair I added Schwarzkopf mousse to give the hair more hold.. I then started to tong the hair and pin each curl up to allow it to cool down. I always use Tigi’s s-factor spray as this provides heat protection and a gorgeous shine as well as smelling amazing! The hair was then sectioned and I created a low bun by entwining the curls and neatly pinning them on top of each other. I created finger waves at the front of the head by brushing through the curls to form a wave and using sectioning clips to hold the wave in place. Whilst the waves set I moved on to her make-up.

For Cihan’s make-up we wanted to keep it natural but with a 1920’s feel. English Rose was how she described it, softer than the dark eyes and lips of the 20’s. I defined the eyes with winged liner and individual lashes but used a lighter eye shadow. I started by prepping Cihan’s skin, which is super important, to have a good base to apply the make-up on to. I cleansed the skin with Bobbi Brown cleansing oil and then massaged Embryolisse moisturiser into the skin. The primer I used was MAC skin base visage, which is one of my all time favourites. Cihan wanted a foundation that would last the test of time so I used Estee Lauders Double Wear foundation. This foundation provides great coverage and has brilliant longevity so I knew it would last all day. I only applied a small amount with a stippling foundation brush to keep a natural look. I used Nars radiant creamy concealer under the eyes to brighten and give a luminous finish.

For the eye make-up I applied Urban Decay’s eye shadow primer all over the lid to create a smooth base, so I could then apply the eye shadow with ease knowing that it would not crease. I chose MAC naked lunch eye shadow for the lid and cork on the outer edge and in the socket line to create definition. To keep with the vintage theme I used MAC fluidline eye liner in Black Track to give a little flick at the corner of the eye. Waterproof mascara is a MUST! I used Max Factor’s Masterpiece waterproof mascara to start with and then chose to add individual false lashes to enhance the eyes. Brows are really important as they frame your face and the current trend is to have fluffy thick brows. Luckily for Cihan she has lovely full brows so I just combed through them with Bobbi Brown’s natural brow shaper.

For the cheeks, I used Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder for a light contour and MAC soft and gentle highlighter to highlight and sculpt the cheekbones. I used a soft pink blusher by MAC to add a pop colour.

For Cihan’s lips we decided to use one of her own lipsticks which was a gorgeous rosy shade of pink by Estee Lauder. To finish and set the make-up I used Urban Decay’s All Nighter setting spray.

Now for the finishing touches! I removed the sectioning clips from the finger waves as these were now set in place and gave a final spray of hairspray. I then added Cihan’s stunning Chanel hair accessory and her beautiful veil to finish.

Thank you Cihan for letting me part of your wedding day, you looked absolutely incredible!
