Creating a sophisticated glamorous style

It is great fun to experiment with different make up looks throughout the party season. Here we are going to give you some tips for a sophisticated effortless glam style with dark lips.

As with any look, it is always essential to start by creating a flawless complexion as your base. One of our favourites to get an even tonal coverage and to conceal any blemishes is the HD Brows creamy foundation. With a semi-matte finish this fluid foundation minimises shine with its oil absorbing properties and is totally buildable, so you can start by applying a little and adding more if required. Remember to always use a brush for fluid foundation application.

Next move onto your eyes. Using an eye primer will always help maintain your eye makeup for longer periods of time preventing eyeshadow creasing. HD Brows primer is enriched with special polymers and silicones which refine and visibly smooth the skin texture. Definitely invest in this for weddings and all day events when your make-up needs to stay put all day. Opt for a light eyeshadow for full eyelid coverage up to the brow bone, building and blending in darker tones nearer to the lash line. Try adding a touch of sparkle along your upper lash line for a glam party. MAC’s Heirloom Glitter Mix is perfect for a New Years Eve bash or wedding.

Finally add a volumizing mascara to the top and bottom lashes, building up the intensity with the number of coats applied. Try using Baby Jet Mascara to get coverage on every single lash with the micro-fine brush. HD Brows faux lashes are another alternative way to get those luscious long lashes.

Add a natural blush to your cheeks. Choose your colour to suit your skintone, you are aiming to match the natural tone your cheeks are when flushed after exercise or you have been out in the cold. Fair skin looks great in rose, olive in peach and dark skin in apricot or even red. Apply the blusher onto the apple of the cheekbone, ending at the hairline. Always use a full powder brush, tapping off any excess.

Finally onto the lips! When wearing lipstick you must always have moisturized lips. Dry, flakey or cracked can ruin the finished result. Prepare by applying a lip serum for smoothness and then a lip balm for moisturising. Korres lip butter is great for this. Other favourites are Lip Plump by Benefit or Lip Erase by MAC. To get a clean full lip effect always start with a lip pencil, Daniel Sandler has a great range that are waterproof too. For this look, choose a dark burgundy colour and follow the natural lip line, you can also fill in the rest of the lips with the liner to prolong the wear of the lipstick and intensify the colour. Using a lipstick colour as close to the liner as possible fill in the lips right up to the edge. If you want to give further volume add a HD Brows gloss, using a different colour on top can be fun to create interesting tones. For a subtle look use a shiny gold gloss or alternatively for a super glam look try adding shimmer or glitter with a clear gloss to finish off!

Enjoy!
Wishing you a super sparkly Christmas!
