Lauren’s Big Day, a Stunning Amalfi Wedding.
I was so excited and honoured when Lauren asked me to do her Amalfi Wedding day Makeup and Hair. The fact that she is an amazing Makeup and Hair Artist herself meant the pressure was even greater to make her look and feel the best version of herself.
Lauren & John’s Wedding ceremony was on a very sunny Minori Pier which was absolutely gorgeous. Then moving along the Amalfi Coast on to Ravello's iconic cliffside to Villa Eva which would provide one of the most stunningly beautiful backdrops to celebrate their "Matrimonio"!
I know Lauren through the Makeup world, we have become good friends through the years of working together. I knew how organised and well planned her Wedding would be. Lauren and John had thought of everything and made everyone who was invited to there wedding feel special and important to be celebrating there wedding day with them.
Hair.
Lauren wanted a very natural and simple half up - half down hairstyle. I added a pack of real hair extension’s to give the solution of hair looking fuller and thicker. This allowed me to create height on top and left a delicate flow of hair around her face to keep the look fresh. I added one of my own designs from the Gemma Sutton Collection of Headpieces to finish the look off.
Makeup.
Lauren’s Makeup look was fresh and flawless. I used warm shades on her eyes from Tom Ford and lots of different length lasher’s were added to open Lauren’s eye. Everything around Lauren’s eyes was waterproof as Lauren told me she may have a tear or two (and yes she did!!!!!) Lauren’s skin base was very important as she wanted a flawless coverage without it looking caked on. With any destination Wedding (especially an Amalfi wedding in 30 + deg heat!) you need to be careful what products you use as the heat can be so hot and make the skin look shiny or greasy. I used a prep and prime from MAC with an SPF of 50. Lauren looks after her skin and always wears an SPF when she can. I used Double Wear Light stay in place makeup SPF 10, It controls oil and won't melt in the humidity keeping the skin feeling fresh and comfortable. I covered any unwanted blemishes with a full coverage concealer from MAC and a loose Laura Mercier setting power, this works with anyone's skin tone. The powder contains unique light-reflecting, micro-refined spherical silica powers that help to create a soft-focus appearance, diminishing the look of any fine lines and imperfections while visibly smoothing the skin. Lips and cheeks were kept to a soft warm shade of pink just to finish the whole look off.
It was such a fun-filled day, in such a beautiful location, I can see why Lauren had her heart set on an Amalfi wedding, Italy is such a romantic country and the Amalfi coast is such a romantic part of the country.
Lauren looked breathtaking and I could see how happy Lauren and John were to be marrying each other. A very special couple who will be having many more special moments together.

I am quite particular about my skin and it’s texture and at the trial Gemma listened intently to my concerns and then discussed the options with me, taking into account the heat of an abroad wedding and the longevity required of the makeup.
On the day, I not only knew my hair and makeup was going to look incredible (the trial was fantastic and a great opportunity to try out a few looks if you’re unsure what look you’re after). I’ve always felt that morning getting ready with your oldest friends and family members is one of the most special parts of the day and I was worried my nerves might stop me from enjoying this precious time. I need not have worried…and I credit my relaxed, happy and excited enjoyment of that morning down to Gemma.
We didn’t get in from our wedding night until 5 am & my makeup was still perfectly in place, (despite the heat) and my hair looked fantastic even when posing for photos on a roof in the wind.
