My Sister's Malaga Wedding

My Special little Sister got Married.

x Whoop Whoop x

My sister ’Kate’ is a lady who knows what she wants - so I knew she had a very good idea on the whole look and feel of her wedding day and this included her hair and makeup.

Ollie popped the big question at his family's villa in Spain, which was also to be the wedding venue.  The home was recently featured on 'Homes by the Med', a stunning, breathtaking villa situated in Rincon de la Victoria, Malaga, right on the edge of the coastline, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.  Kate and Ollie wanted guaranteed sunshine and a relaxing day and, with such a spectacular location, decided on a destination wedding; the perfect romantic backdrop to say “I do”.

I knew Kate would have lots of ideas and pins on Pinterest to visualise what she had in mind for her big day!  The theme Kate and Ollie, decided on were simple lines and pastel shades with emphasis on Pantone ‘Serenity blue' and 'Rose Quartz'.

As sisters, Kate and I went to countless dress shops in the UK and Madrid looking for 'the dress’.  It was in Knightsbridge when Kate put on the ‘Dominion Gown’ designed by Suzanne Neville, that she found the dress; a beautifully boned corseted torso, a flowing skirt with covered buttons down the back.  The dress was simply stunning and accompanied with an elegant, long veil purchased in Madrid.  I leant her a vintage diamond and pearl bracket to match her studded single diamond with peal earrings.  As a little surprise I gave Kate a GS headpieces which she loved and I new it would look amazing in the back of her hair.

On the morning of her wedding Kate woke up very excited and I was set to work with Hair and Makeup for her and her wedding party. A great morning spent drinking champagne and having a good girly catch.

In the heat of a destination wedding it is very important that you apply the correct makeup. I always use a oil preventing cleaner and blot before applying any makeup to the face.

My sister wanted a flawless natural makeup look, with more attention to her eyes. She opted for an up do styled hair bun which I alway suggest to all my destination brides to keep you as cool as poss.

I started with Kate’s hair.  Kate wanted a natural/messy low style bun with hair braided into a loose plat. I sectioned her hair and kept her side parting, framing her face beautifully.  I needed to add a lot of real hair extensions to bulk out the bun as Kate normally has a bob hair cut. I twisted each section to give more interest and texture.  I added one of our GS head vines to the back of the hair bun; as Kate’s hair is a rich brunette colour, it really made a statement to the hair design.

When it comes to the perfect bridal destination makeup, I needed to ensure I was using the correct products to create that gorgeous look that will last all day and evening in the humidity.

I started Kate’s makeup with a very good primer with a silicone-base (MUD’s Face Primer) This softens and smooths the skin, toning down any redness and helping hold the foundation in place preventing it from moving around in the heat.

I then apply a light, oil-free mineral foundation. I applied this in thin layers and build it up to create a fuller coverage on Kates skin.  Using an oil-free foundation will again help reduce shine throughout the day.

With Kate’s eyes we used warm shades (soft golds and browns) I used matt colours on the eyes as too much shimmer can end up creating unwanted shin in the photographs.

A waterproof eyeliner and mascara was added, this helps prevent any smudging from both the humidity and the emotion of the whole day.  I added lots of black individual lashes I added different lengths to give Kate a full but natural lash line.

I added a little extra bronzer to the high points of Kate’s face, where the sun would naturally hit her face. I used a matt MAC powder bronzer to keep the face as matt as poss. I added a NAZ highlighter to Kate's cheek bones to give her a sexy shimmer when the sun hit her face. This looks stunning in pictures - a little natural shimmer.

Kate’s lips where kept quite nude, I added a tired lip bum from MAC just to add a little colour while moisturizing the lips at the same time.

This was finished off using a HD translate power - to keep the shin down. A MAC fix spray was also sprayed to set the whole look.

My sister looked absolutely stunning, I truly have never seen her look so beautiful.  I will never forget the moment when she looked in the mirror, and said ‘Thankyou I love it’

A very special day which we will always remember together.
