I was so excited when Kaj asked me to do her Wedding Makeup and Hair for her very special day set on the stunning Nikki Beach in Marbella.

With guaranteed sunshine, destination weddings are always a perfect romantic backdrop to say “I do” but when it comes to your perfect bridal makeup and hair you need to ensure you are using the correct products to create that gorgeous look that will last all day and evening in the humidity.

I always start with a good primer with a silicone-base (MUD’s Face Primer)  This softens and smooths the skin, toning down any redness and helping hold the foundation in place preventing it from moving around in the heat.

I always avoid too many creamy products on the skin in the heat as these tend to run.

 -

For Kaj’s skin, I used only a little studio MAC scalp SPF 15 foundation, then applied a little MAC Studio Fix Foundation using a buffing brush, I opted for this as it is a very thick foundation with a powered finish but Kaj has such good skin we didn’t need a face full of foundation, so applied a little at a time.  Buffing the powder into the skin allows you to layer the product gradually, giving you the perfect coverage.

We went for bronze matt eye makeup as too much shimmer can end up creating unwanted shine in photos if you tend to have fairly oily skin anyway. I opted for bronze tones to compliment Kaj’s eyes, making them look lovely and bright.

A waterproof eyeliner and mascara is a must, this helps prevent any smudging from both the humidity and the emotions of the whole day.

To keep this look fresh and natural, I applied a little bit extra  bronzer just to the high points of Kaj’s face, where the sun naturally hits her  - forehead, cheekbones, chin, and nose. Powder bronzers are always best to use in the heat to keep a matt look, so again there isn't too much unwanted shine.

For Kaj’s lips we chose a pink stain which lasts all day. I added a gloss on top just to give it a 3D look and shimmer in the sun. This also always makes the lips look a little fuller.

 -

I finished off by setting the look by using a matt finishing spray to increase the longevity of the makeup, so Kaj could dance the night away without a worry!
