Stunning Wedding....

In the heat of a destination such as the stunning St Lucia, you’re highly likely to perspire a little, what it also tends to do is make your your skin produce more oil, which is one main thing that melts make up more than heat and perspiration, so before you get started with make-up application be sure to grab an oil preventing cleanser and blot before you apply any makeup.

Start with a good primer for both the face and eyes. This is key to long lasting makeup in the heat. We love HD Brows Eye Primer, it is enriched with polymers and silicones which refines and visibly smooths the skin texture, as well as creating a great base for eyeshadows to prevent creasing in the heat. For a face primer we would recommend Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base, it is rich in feel but never greasy, with an oil-free face formula it instantly hydrates, which is extremely important when using long lasting foundations as they can tend to be quite drying.

Once your face is primed, apply a light, oil-free mineral foundation. Start with thin layers and build up if you require more. Using an oil-free foundation will again help reduce shine throughout the day. Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Light is a lovely one to choose and also has an SPF in it so you have that protection with it too. Always apply with a good foundation brush to get that flawless base.

Opt for a light weight creamy water resistant concealer for the under eye and any skin blemishes. MAC’s Studio Finish Concealer is great as it is available in an array of tones, it’s enriched with antioxidants and also contains Silica which helps to absorb the skins oils. Again, always apply with a good medium to firm fibre brush.

A cream blush for the cheeks will keep that fresh summery dewy appearance. Daniel Sandler’s Watercolour Creme Rouge Sunset is a beautiful rich golden peach colour that is quite subtle but gives that natural flushed look that you’re going for, and it truly flatters most skin tones, looking stunning in natural daylight. Adding a touch of bronzer for a sun kissed glow is necessary for any beach wedding. A mixed powder bronzer with varying shades which blend as you apply it to the brush creates the most natural look. Tap or blow on the brush to rid of any excess, then apply to the high points of your face where the sun naturally hits you, so your forehead, cheekbones, nose and chin to gain that natural warmth to the skin. Don’t forget to blend down the neck to avoid a colour line.

Brows eyeshadow palettes

Moving onto the eyes - make waterproof your mantra!
With it being such an emotional day along with the heat and humidity it is essential that all of your eye makeup is completely waterproof.

With your primer and under eye concealer applied take a waterproof pressed powder eyeshadow. We love the HD Brows eyeshadow palettes with five rich colour-intense complimentary shades, they also have two different powder textures which is ideal. Using a light matte shade provide a base, with an eyeshadow brush sweep across the whole lid, the socket and up to the brow bone. Continue to build up the colour with the satin shades which have a subtle iridescence to lift the colour, perfect on a sunny day.

Next, take a waterproof eyeliner, long lasting water and smudge resistant Duo Gel Eyeliner from HD Brows is wonderful, it gives you the look of liquid liner but with the soft feel and ease of a gel formula, it glides on allowing you to get it just right before it dries. Using a eyeliner brush for precision start at the inner eye and glide across the lash line, you have to work fairly quickly as once it sets it will stay put without a smear or crease all day.

You are going to be photographed a lot on your big day and these snapshots are going to be your keepsakes that you will treasure forever, so it is important you have good definition from your make up on this special day whilst maintaining your natural beauty. For our brides we always use individual false lashes. This gives the eyes that intensity but still with a natural look. They can quite tricky to apply so if you are doing your own make up you may like to try strip lashes, HD Brows have a selection of 3 to choose from depending on what look you are after. Once you have your beautiful thick lashes set, reach for the mascara. Bobbi Brown’s No Smudge Mascara is long-wearing, it helps define, curl and lengthen without smudging, clumping or flaking and above all it is waterproof, so it will stay put after you have shed a few happy tears. Start at the root of the lashes, gliding the wand through in a zigzag motion applying light pressure upwards. Keep building up the coats to get your desired effect.

Lipsticks can be quite heavy in the heat so we would suggest opting for a lipgloss which is much fresher and easier to reapply throughout the day. The HD Brows gloss comes in 6 perfect bridal shades, they are lightly pigmented with a divine wet-shine finish and enriched with moisturising emollients they visibly plump and condition the lips. Wear it alone or use the Watercolour Creme Blush for a touch more colour, adding the gloss on top.

And finally, it is essential to use a finishing powder to set your make up for the day. We love MAC’s Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder, it is translucent, weightless and has the feeling of silk on your skin. It will help absorb any oil throughout the day and reduces shine. It ticks all the boxes and is suitable for all skin types and colour leaving you feeling completely comfortable and at your most beautiful for your very special day.
