The amazing Toni & Guy Stylists in Swindon and a team including myself, photographer Kris Tailkowski and assisted by Vicki Blatchley, were all holding our heads up high, having made it through to the Semi Final of the L'Oreal Professional Colour Trophy 2010.

Style Director Chris Miller and Senior Technician Vikki Holland, stylists from Toni and Guy, had entered four very creative images using Kris and I.  These were the final four images that saw us through to the semi final.
Each image was bold, colourful and full of passion/energy.  Chris and Vicki created some fantastic haircut styles and colour.  I ensured I complemented their work with my attention to detail and diverse makeup skills.

The makeup had to complement Toni and Guy's hair designs as we wanted most of the attention focussed on the hair, as this was the focal point of what the judges were looking for, although judging was also based on the whole look and feel of the image.  I decided to use very dark and strong,  smoky eye colours, I find the easiest way to create a smokey eye is to use cream based eye shadows, as the grease in them will bleed almost immediately.  I love MAC's selection, they have almost every shade you can imagine.  I then finished the look off with heaps of black kohl inside the eye and lashings of mascara, keeping everything else quite nude, with flawless skin, so lots of primer was needed, my farourite is No7 Colour Calming Primer, which is multi-tasking as it helps with any unwanted redness to the skin. £10.

At the Semi-Final, Toni & Guy, Swindon had beaten off some stiff competition from thirty-nine salons across the West Region, to clinch their place in the semi finals in London, we were all so happy and proud to have made it through this far.

When we got to the semi-final in London there was so much competition from all over the UK,  so many creative people in one place.  The atmosphere was incredible and we were all so excited to get started on the show.

The stunning and lovely Laura from Elite Models based in London was our chosen model from our final four for the show. I started on the makeup with the classic smoky eyes with a hint of purple to complement the outfit Vicki had designed and made.  The look reflected the romantic gothic influence that came through in collections by Alexander McQueen and Gareth Pugh.  The cool, pearlescent hair colour made the look soft, feminine and wearable.”

It was  an incredible show and lots of fun with the Toni and Guy team from Swindon, there was also lots of drinks and a little dancing.

Unfortunately we didn't make it though to the final, but there's always next year!!!!!!!  x
