I’ve been speaking to Gemma this week who wanted to share the details of a wonderful wedding, recently held in Lake Como, Italy. Gemma attended, along with Michelle (Miss Sunshine) to apply makeup and hair to the lovely bride, Helen, and her bridesmaids.
The bride and her party began the day getting ready at that Hotel Metropole: a small, intimate hotel with breathtaking views over Lake Como. Leading off from the hotel are the characteristic steps and winding streets of Bellagio which just add to the wonder.
Bellagio is a small town offering lots of fantastic, traditional restaurants and bars most of which overlook Lake Como. This pretty town is referred to as ‘the pearl of the lake’. If it’s unbeatable water views you are looking for, then Bellagio is the absolutely perfect location for your special day – the town includes plenty of outstanding luxury hotels that would be ideal venues for your Lake Como wedding. Lake Como is an absolute hit with celebrities, both to live there and hold their weddings - Chrissy Teigen and John Legend to name but one!

Bridal Makeup (by Gemma)
Helen opted for an enhanced natural beauty look, with her skin being primed into a smooth base by using BY TERRY’s Hyaluronic Hydra Primer. Next, foundation was applied, using Tom Ford Waterproof Foundation Concealer in Bisque. To lock the base in place, especially as the weather was quite warm, Gemma used bareMinerals Mineral Veil - a translucent and weightless powder which absorbs oils, and softens the complexion. To complete the base, a natural contour and highlighter were added for a flawless finish.
Eyes were again kept natural, using soft cream and brown hues, with plenty of short individual lashes added to open the eye. As a final touch, Gemma applied soft, shiny pink to Helen’s lips.
Bridal Hair (by Gemma)
“I created a natural, soft, low messy updo, using Dream Girl Hair Extensions to add thickness and texture. The finishing touch was a Gemma Sutton headpiece called Ice Angel, designed exclusively by me.”
Bridesmaids Makeup and Hair (by Miss Sunshine)
Miss Sunshine created a loose, textured messy plait for each bridesmaid, thickened using Dream Girls Hair Extensions and finished off with flattering soft curls.
Makeup for the girls was kept very natural-looking, using brown and nude tones. The go-to product for this was the Tom Ford Nude Dip Palette, with individual lashes added to increase volume and really open up the eyes. Skin was kept dewy with a flawless finish, Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, a stunning Tom Ford highlighter, Bobbi Brown Bronzer, and the absolute cult classic - NARS Blusher in shade Orgasm.
The Wedding
As the wedding approached, the bridal party got on a boat to a neighbouring village, Verenna, in which the ceremony took place in its quaint church. The wedding reception took place at a lovely place called Villa Aura Del Lago. It’s an exclusive, 18th-century property surrounded by a hundred-year-old botanic park and directly overlooking Lake Como. The entire day ran smoothly and Gemma and Michelle were so pleased that the bride and bridesmaids were feeling so confident with their look.
